What’s going on with Ayame?

As some of you may already know, I am struggling a bit financially. I have tried to give my full attention to C:SI and SL in general, but it is not enough to keep me alive, so I am looking for alternative ways to support myself, with the intention of continuing the C:SI development in my spare time.

One of the reasons I had released a lot of new weapons was because with each release, I got a small boost in sales and this has been enough to keep me going, but not enough to keep me from going into debt. If I stopped working on making new weapons, I would have the time to advance the scripting and fix a lot of the issues, but I could not do this without ending up homeless. So I continued to release new weapons while trying my best to fix bugs and issues. Add to that, that SL is always changing and new bugs are being created (and new jerks are constantly finding ways to cheat or steal), and I simply have not been able to keep up with it all.

Add to that, creative individuals can get a bit discouraged when they have to deal with tons of frustrations (like the cheating, and stealing, and SL creating new bugs, etc, etc) and it becomes hard to get things done. If my weapon creations seem like they are easy to create, then it’s because I have done my job correctly and you are not seeing all of the complicated intricacies that make up a weapon and the combat system. But trust me on this, it’s a lot of work. I prefer to do all I can when I make a weapon, to make it as nice as possible and this is why it takes me so long to release a weapon.

So I was working on putting my portfolio together to begin job hunting, when I got a call from a friend with a job offer that works well for both myself and C:SI. I am going to be doing SEO (search engine optimization) maintenance work on websites. This is a job I can work from home, and still have free time to work on C:SI development and new weapons.

The only real down side to this is that my weapon releases will be a little farther apart. I am going to begin rewriting the C:SI scripts, and I have some plans for C:SI that I think people are going to really enjoy. I am unsure what is going to happen in the long run, with the other creator’s weapons, but I feel it is important for me to move forward, and to try to move C:SI forward as well.

I know Haruko is still on board, and she has helped me extensively in all matters relating to C:SI. She likes to keep to herself most of the time, but we talk a lot and she has been both helpful and supportive. She has plans to release weapons for C:SI after I finish the script rewrite. It’s something she has been waiting for. You see, it’s very difficult to configure a C:SI weapon with our current scripts. so much so that it made her angry and she refuses to work with it. 😀 So the rewrite I am doing will make it much easier for our creators to make a new weapon and get it working and released.

Both Esprite and Robby have expressed interest in releasing new weapons after Mesh Import is finally added to Second Life. Will they do so? I am not sure. That is up to them to decide but of course I hope they do. Haruko has also been waiting on Mesh Import and has been working long hours learning the skills to properly model with polygons in a compatible manner with Mesh Import. I have not had the chance to touch on this yet myself, but I will as soon as I can. Right now I obviously have too many other things going on.

I have waited patiently for the other creators to regain interest in SL and C:SI and return to the project group, but as I was telling Esprite earlier tonight, it has literally been years now that I have waited. I think I have been patient and waited long enough. So I will move forward with the script rewrite, fix all bugs, including the issue with multiple attachments that SL has just added, and try to bring new and exiting elements to the C:SI system.

So my current plan is to work with my friend on SEO projects, and advance C:SI in my spare time. New weapon releases are now lower priority to getting the script rewrite done and advances made. New weapons will return to top priority once this is done.

Please bear with me while I work things out and you will be pleasantly rewarded. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to voice them in the comments here. I am very accessible and I am always happy to answer questions.

Thank you all for your support and Have a wonderful day!
